Vietnam 1 Michelin Star Restaurants
On June 27, the awards ceremony revealed the lineup of 7 restaurants that received the “1 star” distinction. This indicates that these restaurants offer good quality food and are worth trying. The list comprises 4 Vietnam 2023 establishments and 3 new additions:
Gia | Hibana by Koki |

Vietnam Bib Gourmand 2024
The Bib Gourmand Award is a designation given by the Michelin Guide to restaurants offering high-quality food at a reasonable price and named after Bibendum, the Michelin Man mascot. Unlike Michelin stars, which typically denote fine dining establishments, Bib Gourmand restaurants are often more casual and accessible, highlighting local cuisine and comfort food.
The Bib Gourmand list – Michelin Guide Ha Noi has 18 restaurants with 5 newly awarded.
The Michelin Guide Ho Chi Minh City has included 24 restaurants in its Bib Gourmand list, with 8 of them newly awarded.
Da Nang debuts an appearance on the list and becomes the latest destination to be featured in the Michelin Guide Vietnam 2024 selection. Michelin Guide Da Nang Bib Gourmand Selection was unveiled with 16 restaurants.
Vietnamese Opinions on the Michelin Guide Vietnam 2024
The announcement of the Michelin Guide Vietnam Bib Gourmand 2024 list for Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang has garnered a variety of responses from the Vietnamese community. Many Vietnamese agree that the restaurants named in the list are all worth trying for tourists and reflect the spirit of Vietnamese cuisine.
Some individuals disagree with the presence of establishments such as Bun Cha Hang Than and Bun Cha Obama (Bun Cha Huong Lien). They believe these restaurants no longer meet the standards expected by locals and require quality improvements.
Many people concur with the excellence of Hu Tiu Hong Phat, Pho Minh, El Gaucho, Cha Ca Anh Vu, An’s Saigon, Com Tam 3 Ghien, Com Tho Chuyen Ky, Nha Tu, etc.
There is some local regret that many beloved eateries have not made it onto the list. Another perspective is that the Ho Chi Minh City list has too many Pho establishments.
Regarding the restaurants on the Bib Gourmand list, locals hope that appearing on the Michelin list doesn’t lead these eateries to neglect their service quality and food standards due to increased customer traffic.
